In recent years, Gil has been responsible at the Office of the Chief Scientist for policy design and implementation aimed at the continuous development of a knowledge-based industry in the Energy and Cleantech sectors, including innovative technologies for oil & gas sector, renewable energies, alternative fuels, energy efficiency, water technologies, reducing GHG emissions, green growth strategy and more.
Before that represented Israel at OECD’s Committee for Scientific and Technological Policy (CSTP), was involved in designing and launching various new incentive programs, including encouragement of institutional investments in the high-tech sector, incentives for investments in the field of alternative fuels, programs to foster innovation and R&D in traditional industries. Involved as well at cross sector OCS activity to encourage and support technological and commercial cooperation activity with international partners.
Before that have been head of the economic and commercial departments at Israel’s embassies in New Delhi, Madrid and Lisbon, assisting Israeli companies and service providers to penetrate local markets and forming collaborations with local partners as well as attracting investments to the Israel. Previous to that worked as an economist in the Investment Center of Ministry of Industry, Trade & Labor and as an economist in the Logistic and Technology department of the IDF (Israeli Defense Force).
Holding Masters in Business Administration (M.B.A.) and B.A. in Economics and the Studies of the Middle East, both from Bar Ilan University, Israel. Speaking fluently Hebrew, English, Spanish, Portuguese and French, with some basic communication skills in other languages.
